Description
This is the fishing village of Ashizuri-misaki located at the southern most tip of Shikoku. We took the train as far as Nakamura, where we caught one of the local buses from directly outside the station. The bus journey takes around an hour and becomes progressively more harrowing the closer to the village you get, the driver skillfully whipping the bus around the narrow, cliff-hugging road. He seemed quite jolly but when I looked out the window I could not see the road. All I could see was a straight drop to the rocks below. We spent a relaxing few days sleeping, wandering over the seaside cliffs and serving as a mobile buffet for the local mosquitoes.

Beautiful work Mark, and lol at your story. What summer vacation would be complete without tales of mosquitos. Have a good night.. hopefully the mosquitos stay out of your dreams. :)

I remember visiting my brother-in-law once on his shrimp boat in dock. It was a humid and warm evening and I had to run through a curtain of mosquitoes to get from the dock, on the boat and through the cabin door to safety. I hated the thought of leaving and making it back to the car! Oh, back to this photo... LOL I love the view of the boats along the cliff. It looks very peaceful.

Scary! Once you get there you know what to expect on the ride back! Makes it hard to leave, plus the beauty of the place (including mosquitoes) is so tranquil and beautiful. Wonderful.

Excellent composition! The cliffs dominate the scene and are beautiful in their leafy garb. Humanity clusters around, in homes climbing the hillsides and in boats lined up on the water. Wonderful light and detail! Great narrative. I think the kin of some of those mosquitoes greeted me with great enthusiasm about a year later.
