Description

I am very fortunate to live in an area of the Western Cape, South Africa, where the Western Leopard Toad (Amietophrynus pantherinus) still manages to reside. They are on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (http://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/54723/0). There is a group of ToadNUTS (http://toadnuts.ning.com/) that I have just joined to raise public awareness of their plight. This little guy was on the driveway one rainy morning and I managed to capture him ‘in natural surroundings’. All the others I have been able to photograph were on the road at night in my car headlights. Those were photographed in my bath before releasing them in a safe area away from the road and close to the water of the marina. They are quite placid and comical characters that I am very glad to have in my environment! Thankfully I am not looking for a prince… Clive
