Description

This is a famous cascade at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. It is 200 yards long, has 24 waterfalls and is 300 years old. the water is pumped up to the head which can be seen in the distance, the water then cascades down over the 24 falls, all of which are slightly different which in turn produces a different sound. The statues are not a permanent feature but are for sale and will be going to Sotheby's soon. They appear to be trying to shut out the sound of the water!

Nice! I was there last month and I thought that the statues were part of the cascade. Silly me! :)

Oh too bad, I like the statues there. Amazing even without the statues and in such good shape for 300 years old. Great shot!

Just like the monkey (or monkeys) - hear no evil ! LOL You do have some amazing looking country-sites in England, this is like taking a trip Jeff, which I have never experienced before, thanks for sharing, BB p.s. I am just asking myself now - who would buy a statue like that ?

Quite a place Jeff. It looks like I've fallen behind in your gallery. I enjoy the way you take us through all these beautiful, historic places.

I haven't been able to be on rr much lately. You do make it hard to choose an image. I made it to Derbyshire but never to Chatsworth. After seeing all your shots, I wish I had. I love this image! There is a wonderful incongruity in the beautiful fountain and the comical statues. It makes a great image, but I think on the whole, I'm glad the statues aren't there all the time. It is a little distracting from the beautiful cascades and what must be an amazing auditory experience. Excellent shot and series!
