Description

UF5/PSP Thank you for stopping for a look. Any and all comments and/or suggestions are always welcome. This fractal started out life as a simple but pleasantly colored spiral. I decided to try some of the many filters on my digital photo program. The filter used here is called "plastic wrap" I find the effect is rather impressive, but i also know many folks do not like to see fractals manipulated and no longer pure. So my request here is to get feedback on wether you would prefer this fractal as the simple spiral it began life as, or as it now appears. Yesterday Dochtersions (an artist I respect a great deal) kindly suggested i try using more light on some of my images. I have tried a few already and found she is 100% correct.

however one chooses to post, it is their prerogative.I can appreciate art with post work or in the pure state.I enjoy plugins and use them often.I like the glass look

Yes it was an oversight on my part not to point out that indeed it was Claude that first mentioned additional light would be an improvement. I do appologize for that oversight.

I think this is fantastic. Your use of a filter makes it unique. Experiment all you want with everything, the results will show.

Purests, Bah, a Pox on them. IMHO every Image can be Improved with some Postworking, since when is it wrong for an engineer or architect to use an eraser or a Painter to use a rag to wipe a spot and do-over. Adding your own touch to the generated image, making it the vision in your mind by Postwork methods makes it much more a part of you than simply setting it up and letting the machine do it's thing. Excellent Spiral Peace

I agree too :D It's fun to experiment, that's what we need, isn't it? So an artist develops his-her own styles. Who knows with what you're gonna surprise yourself. Often it is a matter of courage. He,he, I always thought, I can't make fractals, until I, because of P.T.S.D, the real painting had to give up. Well, and I simply experimented. In the first place I didn't even like it. Oh, I hated it, that fractal'junk' (LOL) It is the surprise when suddenly something very nice appears, so just do it. b.t.w. I like this one, of course ;-)! Its very lively, Jim.

Fantastic image I like the effect you achieved Go for it! I love the idea of manipulation of an image, whatever you do to it, is a part of you coming out and yelling to the world - 'THIS IS ME!' Like me or hate me - here I am! Great work most of the time I work with the coloured foil filter

I love this fractal! I have to agree with everyone else so far. Any manipulation you do is just part of the creative process and helps make it even more your individual image. The effect you got with this spiral is amazing, it gives added depth and texture.

Hello, my friend. I quite like the piece; it gives the work an acrylic effect. My feeling is that it is all about the art. Anything you can use to express your vision, USE it! Also, I think your attitude of exploration is one of your outstanding characteristics.

A beautiful spiral and I love to use all the effects available to get the best image whether it is pure or not is beside the point I reckon. I love this effect.

I am so pleased you are increasing the light. And I have no problems with post work. It all depends....sometimes yes, and sometimes no. And each artist is different (Vive la differance!). I use post work only very rarely, but that applies only for me. And what is the image editor programme you used to get these wonderful effects?

i love this one. It seems most everyone agrees with me that if you want to do postwork, then why not do it? The postwork you did on this one made it exciting and seem acrylic.
