Description
Taken in an alley with the scope sitting on my car. This is a stack of Five images taken at different shutter speeds. I hand stacked these rather than use a process. The telescope is a little Meade 90mm catadioptric with a right ascension drive (not used this night)and an Olympus C730UZ camera with an astroscope mount. The moons are shown by distorting the image until they show up and then putting markers to show where they were this night. Hope to get better Filters would help, so would a ccd device designed for astro photography. Some day.
A note Jupiter has lost one of its bands. Scientist arn't sure exactly why, but they think it went below the clouds on the planet. If you look on my space collage you can see where the other band was. Everyone that looks at the night sky want to be the first to report its return.

This is outstanding! I remember standing on a stool in the back yard with my dad when I was very young, looking through his telescope at the planets and stars. Jupiter and Saturn were my favorites. This really brought back memories. BTW, my dad made his telescope in college. It was 6 feet long with a barrel about 8 inches across and he hand ground the lens himself, poured the lead balance weight and built the swivel stand. It was really an amazing thing to haul it out and set up it.

Pretty amazing result, I could never do anything near this, with my little Fuji. Patience is needed, my guess, for the band to appear again! BB
