Well, ah do declayah! Shades of Gone With The Wind.
Captured 7/31/10, at the American Civil War Reenactment held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Much better viewed full size.
Yes, this reenactment wasn't just all about cavalry, troops and armament, there was also a stellar display of civilian life back during the War Between the States.
Couldn't exactly erect a mansion on the grounds, so the organizers of the event did the next best thing: displaying some of the Southern activity and charm in, around and under tents.
I don't think there was a Northern equivalent at the show.
I didn't realize it until I saw the photos, but the lady on the right in the fourth picture is admonishing me for invading their privacy while they were shopping for dresses. Sorry, lady, at this juncture I didn't have the time or incentive for playing ninja.

hahhaha if she came at you just act deaf and dumb. i do that some times. my son wish he had his movie camera on at the time. might had won the america funny videos . Oh well may be you get to meet people like this and put on a act. it just comes natucal with me. very wonderful shots of the life and times of the war

Wonderful captures of this excellent event and they have gone to a lot of trouble to get dressed up so authentically. I'm glad I don't have to dress like this now but I must admit they look great.
