Description

One day I went into my bedroom and saw this guy/gal running across the floor. Its body is about 1 ½ inches long or 38.1 mm long. I grabbed my camera and at first it stopped at my bed then run into my closet where I took this shot of it stopped at one of my hiking boots laying on the floor. To think that this spider was running around my bedroom at night when I was asleep is just too creepy! I have no idea how long it was in there, how something this big could go unnoticed is beyond me. Anyway I trapped it with one of them big plastic Solo cups and put it outside. I couldn’t find a match for it in my books, but it looks like it could be in the Wolf-Spider family. Hope you are not crept out to much by this and zoom if you dare! Thanks for the comments.

Wow... that's a seriously big spider. :) Yeah, that would be creepy to have it at home and not know since when. I use the same technique to put spiders and bugs out outside, except that i use an empty blank CDs tower instead of a cup. The advantage of it is that it is large, with smooth walls that most bugs can't climb, and it has a lid that locks. :)

yes I heard of big spiders in pillow cases. My mom told us of them so we check for spiders in our pillow cases every night. I do not do that now but I might start after seeing this shot.

Hope you are looking in your hiking boots before slipping your feet in... But a good close up of this little visitor.

If it runs really fast it probably is some type of wolf spider. Not good to have them in your bedroom as I have had some nasty bites from them...lots of scratching...big red mark...big hole in your skin...and you can even sleep right through it.

Wolf spider, eh? A little bigger and I'd believe he might be able to take a wolf. I read somewhere that people actually eat about 8 spiders a year in their sleep (on average). As many spiders as there are running around, I suppose it's conceivable that occasionally one might venture too close to a sleeping mouth. How's that for gross?

Very great shot, so great it make my skin crawl. I won't sleep tonight for sure. I always shake my shoes before I put them on since I moved to Fl. So many creepy crawlers around. I once had a similar spider in the hallway outside my bedroom. It was carrying babies on it's back and they all jumped off and were running around. I'm afraid I had to spray them all. I felt very bad about it. I'm glad you were able to put your's outside.
