A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

What a great shot, I went to our fair last week, I was there during the day though so no night shots, and I really can't imagine carrying a tripod around a fair, then you have no free hands for stuff like cotton candy haha.. and I hope we will see some shots of Vegas, I love to go there, its been a while and I am so ready for a trip back, we always stay at the Monte Carlo resort. Great photo Melinda, and great to hear your hubby was able to save the day!!

Aaaay, Melinda, long time, no see! Sounds like you have all the fun: constant traveling, excursions to Pomona, etc. Glad you got your Rebel working again, that is a real kick in the shin when your camera acts up. I recently lost one of my favorites, a Konica Minolta DiMage Z3, to battery leakage. Boy, was I bummed out on that. That said, you did great with good contrast considering this was a hand-held shot, young lady. Might help to tote along at least a monopod next time. They are light weight and relatively easy to carry. It's hot here also, but no where as bad as where you live. Incidentally, I think I passed your place last Sunday driving on the 5 Freeway going up to Lebec, which is just a little past Gorman.
