Description


This is another shot inside Chatsworth House. The violin on the door is in fact a painting, it looks 3D but it's in 2D. The four panels around it are all part of the picture and unless you were told you would never know that it wasn't real! This is known as a 'Trompe - l'oeil' or in English 'decieves the eye'. It was painted by Jan van der Vaart circa 1723.
