The warm Russian sense of humour continues - but wait - the plot thickens... He says to himself: 'Maybe the Don is deeper than I first thought, so it's either sink or swim - the alternative is praying for a miracle, fat chance of that...as he was no angel in his life !' , bring on the last one, Nikolay BB

You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it think... Outstanding work!

Love the eyes of your character in both One and Two... Your interpretation of a work by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin?

well, I looked for the third but unless it's buried in one of your photographs, I didn't find it, lol...On both of these: The concept is a wonderful & clear-executed cartoon, with a wonderful caricature at its heart. I don't remember too many of these in your gallery---you're a fine cartoonist! The first panel has this tired man taking his mare to water, with the man looking-out as if to say, "what in the world am I doing?" or, better: "Again??? I'm so freaking tired of this..." He knows it's not likely to work...And in the second panel (this panel) the poor mare was too much, she sank...and the poor guy is standing on what's left of her, wondering, "do I get out of this alive???" First off, is it an allegory for something Russian? Hard not to think so, because of the color of the mare, and the star on the man's hood. (A feeling of something sinking, lol? I could do allegories for the state of things in the States, believe me; you don't wanna get me started on that...) Well, back to the image: The man is real cartoon art: drawing essentials, a fractured line for the frowning mouth, a few lines for the hair, the eye doused in a blue pool (of tears?) and that wonderful medieval outfit---he looks like a nave from the 1400s. (A good citizen?) Good & simple shading too. Then the feet are clunky & funny---cartoonists exaggerate & lessen everything to make their caricatures---and the background is pretty much uniform---water & sky all the same, all doomed, lol. Really fine work, Nikolay, spare & expressive, and great little character. I'd call it two panels rather than a work in progress, simply because one follows the other. Always great to see you do 2D! A sly & funny piece too...
