It is telling that out of the 586 word Republican Pledge, Intro can only focus on three words – count them folks, three words -- 471 words into the document. That Intro is engaged in deception is without question. But why three words … out of such a lengthy document? Are the rest invisible? No. But Intro (and his liberal pals) want them to be – invisible to you. Considering the treasonous disregard in which Obama and his liberal gang hold the people, and their rights, this is understandable. “Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs (the lie and the truth) in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth." George Orwell – 1984 Intro’s post: doublethink in action. For your consideration I present the Republican Pledge in full form. A Pledge To America. America is more than a country. America is an idea – an idea that free people can govern themselves, that government’s powers are derived from the consent of the governed, that each of us is endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. America is the belief that any man or woman can – given economic, political, and religious liberty – advance themselves, their families, and the common good. America is an inspiration to those who yearn to be free and have the ability and the dignity to determine their own destiny. Whenever the agenda of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to institute a new governing agenda and set a different course. These first principles were proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence, enshrined in the Constitution, and have endured through hard sacrifice and commitment by generations of Americans. In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent. An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down longstanding laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people. An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many. Rising joblessness, crushing debt, and a polarizing political environment are fraying the bonds among our people and blurring our sense of national purpose. Like free peoples of the past, our citizens refuse to accommodate a government that believes it can replace the will of the people with its own. The American people are speaking out, demanding that we realign our country’s compass with its founding principles and apply those principles to solve our common problems for the common good. The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated. With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America. We pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored – particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. We pledge to advance policies that promote greater liberty, wider opportunity, a robust defense, and national economic prosperity. We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values. We pledge to make government more transparent in its actions, careful in its stewardship, and honest in its dealings. We pledge to uphold the purpose and promise of a better America, knowing that to whom much is given, much is expected and that the blessings of our liberty buoy the hopes of mankind. We make this pledge bearing true faith and allegiance to the people we represent, and we invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America.

Oh...did I leave the rest out? The problem is this: Those "three words" say a lot more than the GOP hopes ANYONE will hear. They say more THAN THE REST OF THE PLEDGE...COMBINED! They say: "We care SO MUCH MORE about frightening and killing others than we do about treating our sick and aged, educating our young and employing our own, that we'll go a trillion bucks in debt to do it!" Alright, then!! Let me "flesh it out" for you. Wouldn't want you to think I was hiding anything! Then you can see how totally stupid the rest is! My responses are in (parentheses). Minus the FLOWERY PREAMBLE-BABBLE (graciously provided above by wblack) which was designed to hide the overarching belief that being RICH is the only way to be Patriotic. Here's a Synopsis of their "Pledge". •Stop tax hikes (No one proposed TAX HIKES.) • •Give small businesses a tax deduction of 20% of their income (SMALL BIZ: Like Bechtel and Boeing??) • •Require congressional approval for any new regulation that would increase the deficit (Can you spell: “GRIDLOCK”) • •Repeal small business mandates in the new health-insurance law (SMALL BIZ: Like Bechtel and Boeing??) • •Repeal the health-insurance law (Then, WHY bother with the previous?) •Reduce federal spending to pre-2008 levels (NOW you’re worried about DEFICITS? Where were YOU when THEY started PHONY TWO WARS? Off-The-Cuff for TWO-TRILLION?) • •Require every new law to cite the constitutional authority (Can you spell: “GRIDLOCK”?) •Give members 3 days to read each bill (Like you did back in 2000-2008?? HAH!) • •Provide resources to the troops (Oh, You mean like the defense spending bill you FILIBUSTERED LAST WEEK because you'd rather deprive, lose or kill troops than tolerate "Gays"??) • •Fund missile defense (Borrow a trillion bucks…To target “terrorist cells” in New Jersey? I feel safer already.) • •Enforce sanctions on Iran (and start a war between Iran and Israel, which already has NUKES…Brilliant.) In short: RE-START THE COLD WAR, and SEND ME THE BILL. No wonder they want to fund more missiles...WE'LL NEED THEM. I'll let the readers decide whether I've left anything out. Except the FLOWERY PREAMBLE-BABBLE. Unlike some, I don't choose to write a term paper!

Another missile system won't stop the threats in the modern world. It WILL drain money and resources from the real fight. Terrorists will LOVE that. I guess YOU Do TOO. The only thing Republicans are better at than TALKING is SPENDING. That, and blaming everybody else for the economy they wrecked and will wreck again, if given the chance. It's easy to call someone a liar. Let's see you back it up.

Whoa... Some back-lash. One wonders how far any initiative could get without profits - substantial. Sigh. War is good business - business as usual. Real inspiration is more expensive than any of the lack-inspiration can afford.

Just so I understand your argument correctly, you want us to give up the ability to defend ourselves from missile attacks? Let's run it out with a hypothetical: Let's say we're at war with Nowhereistan, and Nowhereistan gets rid of its missile defenses. What weapons would we start using against them? My money says we'd start using missiles. And if we're at war with Nowhereistan and we get rid of our missile defenses, what weapons will Nowhereistan is going to start using? If they're smart, they're going to use missiles. I think you're making the assumption that since we have no countries lobbing missiles at our homeland right now, we don't need missile defense system. The correct connection is that no countries are lobbing missiles at our homeland right now because we already have a missile defense system, meaning they'd essentially be declaring war without having the advantage of a few missile strikes under their belt before we figured out what was going on and organized a counter-attack against them. Missile Defense makes it unprofitable for the enemy to attack us that way. It robs them of the benefits of such an attack, particularly one launched off our shores from a submarine. Be mad at Republicans. That's politics. Half the country will be happy at the other half will be angry after the elections in a month anyway. But killing missile defense invites an attack. That's not a sound strategy for keeping America safe.

@Killebrew First off: No. You DO NOT understand my argument correctly. At present, we ALREADY have more missiles, on subs, ships, carriers, planes and in land-based silos than any other country in the world. In short, we already have the best missile defense system ....EVER. Excess and waste notwithstanding, I've got no problem with that. AND, we spend more for it than the rest of the world combined. Much of that technology comes from China. (Thanks again Bush, for giving tax credits for outsourcing tech jobs). Sure hope THEY don't program a "kill switch" into those chips we put in our missiles.:) But prioritizing YET ANOTHER redundant missile system shows the kind of thinking that went out with the Berlin Wall. In short, Republican thinking. Cold-War, John Wayne, Beat 'em up, garbage. I'm all for defense...but I want SMART, 21st Century defense, that works against 21st Century enemies. Did the military machine stop the terrorists? No but Intelligence spending has, and is continuing to do so. If the Republicans want my support, they could show me they're not stuck in the sixties. Does that clarify my position?
