Another one that I cranked out because I had the day off. I haven't used Vue in so long that I'm no good with it anymore.

This looks pretty darn good right down to the underwater shadows! In fact all aspects of the water are fine, surface ripples and reflections and underwater distortion...nicely done!

They're both wearing swimsuits, but the guy on the right looks like he's wearing a purple cummerbund around his waist and no swimsuit. The refraction of the water make his purple swimsuit (which was just an underwear prop) appear to be higher up on the body. Vue actually calculates accurate water caustics, so I guess that's how it would appear in real life. Goofy.

Pretty awesome water effects! I did have trouble making out if that was a guy on the right.

Very nice!

Cool water effects. I would imagine rendering a scene like this would be quite challenging. Thanks for sharing.

It was an easy scene. The only problem with the water is that it was too light-reflective with the camera at this low of an angle and so close to the water line. You couldn't see through the water. It was pretty much just a sheet of white with the sunlight bouncing off it. I wanted you to see through the water, so I tinkered with the reflective and density settings. The water plane here is actually closer in real life to the properties of crystal than to seawater, if you look at the math that generated it. But it's no big trick to do in Vue, as much as I'd like to claim it is. I picked a pre-made water material for the water plane (in this case, "tropical water" because I liked the blue-green color of it). Because it had no waves or displacement and was completely flat, I copied that displacement info from another preset water material that had them and pasted it into this tropical water. Didn't make much of a difference in the end. Then I went into the settings and played around with the reflection slider until I could see through it well enough to make me happy. No big deal. Lighting, water caustics, volumetrics, all that stuff - much, much, much easier to do in Vue than in Poser. But it's hard to beat the clean firefly render that Poser gives you when it comes to characters like this. Vue is really for landscapes and naturl scenes, and it does a great job with that IF you know what you're doing (and I really don't - not to mention that I don't have the hardware to crank it up and make it prettier).

The poser figure in water was the one place where I really liked Vue...but Vue never would do anything else for me. I like how peaceful this looks, kind of an end-of-summer pic.

Amazing how you pulled that off very cool look and ripple effect!
