Description

This is one of our Australian icons 'the Laughing Kookaburra'. (Dacelo novaeguineae) He flew in through the open door and was so friendly and curious, he actually thought my kitchen was the right place to come for a free meal and he stuffed himself on last night's leftovers, then he felt he needed to work it all off again - on my treadmill ! Cheers *BB*

Wow Brigitte, this is fascinating! What a wonderful lil' visitor. And whether it's your intention or not, as in the case of "Strawberry 'Fields' Forever"(your last image IIRC)this, for some peculiar reason, reminds me of more Beatles lyrics: "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window" a song written by Paul McCartney. Maybe this Kookaburra is a feathered version of an "apple scruff." Well done and cheerio!

I have only seen these at a zoo in Hawaii, an interesting bird! Nice to know I'm not the only one with wild birds flying into my house; here it has been blue jays, but I have been keeping the door closed since I now have two budgies and I think they would have heart failure if a jay flew in. My budgies talk with many outside birds, but not the jays.

How brilliant is this! So exciting! I think Fritz would go beserk if a bird that large came in, he maybe short but he is a killer!

This are amazing shots from a very beautiful bird, Brigitte. Never saw one before. His head looks a bit like a Kingfisher. So nice he came in your kitchen, did he laugh also?

I love these little birds and look out for them when I'm in Perth. Fancy him coming inside to pay you a visit and I laughed at him inviting himself for lunch and then doing the exercise, must have felt guilty about eating so much. Excellent captures, and now he will probably wake you up each morning.
