Description

Gold Hill, the saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury, Dorset. Every self respecting landscape photographer has a Gold Hil in his or hers locker, and this is mine.

I can't be self respecting then Alan, I must admit that I haven't got one but maybe I can rectify that!! This is a lovely early morning shot of this iconic street. A pity you didn't see the bread delivery boy on his bike!

It is a beautiful place Alan the light being on the wrong side on your visit.. The Hovis advert had me thinking it was up north, rather than one of our west-country treats..

Beautiful! The light slanting in on the near roofs accentuates the varied textures. I love the stepping down of the roofs with the thatch one bucking the trend in both texture and step progression. Wonderful shadows of the irregular roof line and chimneys, and beautiful soft landscape in the distance. Excellent capture!
