Description

this reminded me of Johnny Cash song "one piece at a time" http://www.ask.com/wiki/One_Piece_at_a_Time ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2010/06/24/lost-and-found-rerun-the-little-jewel/ http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/ford/thunderbird/1129008.html Made in West Texas 1951 Ford frame and rear end/stock suspension from a totaled 51 Ford station wagon, firewall is a 39 Chevy, the trunk lid is from a 1937 LaSalle Cadillac, the hood was a trunk lid from an early Studebaker, front fenders and door skins are from a 1946 Buick, rear fenders and floor pan are from a 1947 Chevrolet, the convertible top came from a Studebaker, the grille was hand made, the wheels looks like Cadillac spokes, the windshield was hand made using a Chevrolet center post, transmission was a 3 speed Ford, engine is an Oldsmobile Rocket 303 V8 bored out with a 3/4 race cam, the builder drove it around to towns in West Texas racing it adding a super charger, the top speed in a 1/4 mile was 90mph which was very fast for the early 50's, the two builders used different parts from over 27 automobiles, it took them 2 years and was first driven in 1953, the name was "the Little Jewel" I took this yesterday at the Goodguys custom car show at Texas World Speedway north of Ft. Worth since I was gone all day yesterday my dogs were so excited to see me when I went to feed them.Eve tried get me to shake her paw, but instead put a six inch long major scratch on my arm. thanks for your visit and any comments
