Description
Here’s a second team of Valkyries in Fire Snakes squadron, called Blaze. Three variations on one paint scheme again. The middle scheme is adapted from the "Blue Roses" scheme by an unnamed plastic kit builder. I took that and created the other 2 variations.
It might be interesting to try bagginsbill’s fresnel shaders all over the aircraft, instead of just on the glass. But it would take untold days, nay weeks, of changing materials. It might not be appropriate for a mostly matte paint job anyway. Background/skysphere is a render from Vue. An “in the clouds” render hiding the ground below because I’m still learning how to make a post-apocalyptic, cratered terrain littered with fledgling cities.
May appear too dark or too light. There's oddness with color profiles on my PC.
Rendered in Poser, HDR lighting from a Vue panorama render, Post-work in Photoshop.

Valkyries are always great, great machines. Looking at the full size image I appreciate particularly the not-perfectly smooth surface of the plane noses, like in real life. A small but crucial detail which greatly improves the realism! My only suggestion would be to move a bit the air behind the exhaust openings, to create the idea of a jet trail. Excellent image, John! I missed you!

Nicely done.

i love the composition. it feels very dynamic. right now i'm listening to Imogen Heap sing "when you find your way back down/ in one piece/ i'll just be waiting here/ right here," and i can almost see them moving. i think changing the materials wouldn't change the artistic impact much. that said, with Matmatic created material collections, it should take only a few hours at most. for a normal person, it would probably take only a few minutes.
DapperMan
"a normal person" ;) Might end up resorting to Matmatic or some VSS materials anyway, since there about 50 material zones in each Valkyrie. And 3 Valkyries to a team, and 5 teams to a squadron = a buttload of materials.

the valkyries look very nice,i really like the texture on the one in the middle.are the models free??
DapperMan
The Valkyries are still WIPs and incomplete (don't transform yet), and again, have 50 material zones. And although some others have gotten away with selling Macross/Robotech items, I won't take a chance myself. Maybe far in the future I could offer them free, once they're completed and cleaned up.

I'd happily take em as freebies... macross/robotech rocks... was the show that got me started in a 20 year collection of anime/manga... including a total and complete collection of every macross movie that's been released thus far... i have about everything i could find for daz/poser that's out for the robotech/macross genre... excellent work!

The Valkyries are awesome! For a second I thought that was Max Stering on the right.
