Description

"Welcome to California. Please lower your expectations." I read that somewhere on a bumper sticker. This is the great, desolate expanse known as California. For those of you who have never been here, you will not understand what I am talking about. For those of you who live here, probably will understand, at least up to a point. California has always been the golden state of opportunity that beckon those who wanted a better life. There is not as much gold, opportunities, or promises like there used to be. Many people have left the state. The state is just about bankrupt in so many ways. It's a great place to visit, but not to live in many parts of it. People are looking for work, trying to save their homes, and not traveling as much these days. Perhaps there are better days ahead.

Looks like the Central Valley. I've been in California many years. The best place on earth to visit... Great shot of one of the many different terrains found in this state.

Part of why I left 17 years ago, I go back to visit family and friends when I can. But Tennessee is home to me now. And it was a great place to live and grow up I lived in a neighborhood in Simi Valley, where everyone I knew growing up remained friends, like a big extended family its amazing, but I am sure that is rare now. Thanks for the image, and good luck with your gallery.

Great photo! I've been stationed there, in the Bay Area, but that was long ago in a place far, far away.

That does seem very familiar. Long drives from one end of the state to the other.

This is a marvelous photo and I love the sense of openness you really convey/capture here. Great sense of color as well. What I really like about this is the vibe as well as the image. Amazing stuff, and I love your sense of clarity and color.

I have driven throughout the western states, to explore. This is a familiar scene. I live near the ocean, here in southern California. I've lived in europe and in the great state of Utah. I like it here the best!

Been to California many times and my son (USAnomad) lives in Modesto. Wonderful capture of what the country side looks like. It this shot was through the windshield - you are going to fit in very well at RR. Dana
