This photo was taken in 1968, in Iran, near the town of Maku, just across the border with Turkey. I was on my way East, a three-and-a-half months travel which ended in Kathmandu, Nepal. I was hitchhiking with a companion from Brighton, England, whom I met in Munich, Germany. I am sitting on the hood of this Mercedes, that would take us to Teheran. From there I travelled by any means available through Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal.
I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and I run a small literary publishing firm.

Hikes into these kinds of gorges are most interesting offering one great sights of geology and plant life. There are some very interesting rock textures and formations here. Very good shot George.
