Description

a big birthday wish to a super photographer and friend, hope your birthday was filled with joy minda, i'm not to late am i? thank you for your friendship, kindness and support hon. this photo was taken june 11th 2002 at 7:39 pm according to my records. this was colorado's biggest fire at the time, a firewoman by the name of T Barton, won't mention her first name, started this fire cause she ws upset about the seperation of her husband, she tried to make it appear she found the fire and tried to put it out. but it got out of her hands. later they found eveidence of letters fron him to her at the burn site where it started. many people lost their homes. no lives were lost as far as human, but there were countless animals that could not escape the huge fire. everything from birds. bears, mtn lions, dear, lizards and many, many others. it was a very upsetting situation.. it did have many beautiful sunsets and sunrises. taken with an olympus e-10 thanks for coming by. lol steve

Thank you for your comments and faves on my last image: they only come out at night thumb_2116926.jpg

Nice shot...Man made Sunrises and Sunsets can be Beautiful but devastating to the environment. Fires, smog, smaze, coal dust from mines, sulphur Dioxide from Refineries, all about as bad as Pink Floyd' Two suns in the sunset. For whatever reason Man seems dead set on destroying the very thing that sustains all life, the Planet itself. Peace

It's one thing to have the honor to see this great sunset, but I envy you to have been there to see if in person. Thank you for the time you took to share this. Excellent, really is a wonderful planet we live on.

Isn't it ironic to get such a beautiful shot of a tragic event? I'll never understand why people do such things. :(

It always amazes what beautiful sunsets come from awful disasters such as this fire. I guess it's all the smoke pollution that acts like a filter for the sun, and creates these sunrises and sunsets. Gorgeous capture. Would make a great sky for a Poser or Daz render.

It's really heartbreaking to read about the loss of animal life in that fire and the petty reasons for starting it. :-( Nice dedication for Minda -- and what a dramatic photo of the beauty that sometimes results from destruction. Well done. BTW, I still have an Olympus but it's an OM-1 (purchased new several years ago) and uses real 35 mm film. LOL

That's an excellent photo, Steve! I vaguely remember the news reports of that fire. How ironic it being started by someone sworn to protect us from fire...
