Description

Sometime earlier this year, I read that the Barbie Doll was 50 years old. Think the headline read: "Barbie Celebrates 50th Anniversary" or something like that. Got me to thinking: what if Barbie was a real person? Thought the idea might prove an interesting render and so it has been festering away in my brain ever since. The other day, I discovered Akibabe's wonderful "Barbara Dollie" morphs for Victoria 4 Base at ShareCG. Seemed a good time to start working on that particular project. _ At age fifty, Barbie is quite well off. The toy industry rewarded her and her late husband, Ken, with millions of dollars in royalties. For the pair, it was love at first sight. They married a couple of years later and had a wonderful, loving relationship. Their similar physical impairments became a strong bond, rather than a weakness in their love. Both underwent extensive and expensive plastic surgery (not pun intended) to give themselves that with which they had not been born. While they were able to enjoy physical love-making, no surgery could give them the ability to make a baby. Both wanted children badly, so they decided to adopt children--and not just any children but hard to place children; children that nobody else seemed to want. They first adopted a little boy from Asia, then two years later, a deaf little girl from East Africa. Time passed, the children grew up, fell in love, married, and moved into their own homes. Tragically, Ken died of a heart attack in his 43rd year. He had seem quite healthy and his sudden death devastated Barbie. She no longer had any heart for the toy business and retired from that work. Since then, she has devoted herself to children of the third world. She travels extensively over the world overseeing her charities, but she also spends significant periods of time at her home here in the United States. Barbie misses Ken, but she does not feel lonely. She knows the difference between solitude and loneliness and embraces the former, while rejecting the latter. When she is at home, she frequently fills her house with her grandchildren. She is grateful to be young enough to be able to keep up with them. They add so much joy to her life. Barbie thinks of Ken now and then, but not too much. She picks good memories to remember, but not for long. Her thoughts are always on the living--her children and grandchildren. ______________________ That's it for now. Thanks for dropping by and taking a look! Comments are always appreciated. Very amusing to a Barbie collector. Actually, I heard the rumor she married GI Joe when Ken passed on... or did he? He was found to really be in Beverly Hills with a sweet young thing. http://www.millionaireplayboy.com/mpb/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/0711694600.jpg
