Description

. Please view full size for detail! Larvae, another macro taken at the Wegerzyn Gardens. :) Larvae, and very possibly a green caterpillar that i thought was a leaf before i looked at the shot closely. (carrying its young to be on its back, or victim of another insect's and acting as the helpless carrier?) Previously: "Bee Haappy" thumb_2118366.jpghref> Thanks for looking! Comments welcome. Oh my goodness! They must not spray for insects! Those larvae and the caterpiller are both so awesome. Fantastic shot!!

The larvae is attacked by a sort of Parasitoid wasp. These lay their eggs inside a living animal like a butterfly larvae or other arthropods where the "youngsters" eat its host alive. It is the wasp's own pupated larvaes which are seen on the back of this caterpillar, which itself is dead or dying. A great shot from the sometimes cruel nature. R.

Thank you, NightGallery. :) I came back there yesterday to try and find the caterpillar again, but no luck. Too bad i didn't take more photos of it the first day, i would have had more choices. Oh well... shrugs At least i got one shot. :)
