Description
Speckled Bush Cricket
It was another beautiful summer-like day yesterday, so off to the beach we trotted, along with No1 daughter who had the afternoon free from her tiny students. ^=^
After stating the other day that bush crickets are not that common around this area, I found that the beach roses were absolutely full of them! We, (including Barney), had to be very careful where feet were placed throughout the dunes, so many were there! Also around were thousands (yep, I kid you not!), of sand wasps. Their tiny caved dwellings even outnumbering the rabbits! I managed a few images of those, but shall try to get some clearer ones later today. Frenetic wasp activity doesn't really make for fine photographs! Leastways, not while I'm holding the camera! ^=^
I've only cropped this. I wanted the shot to convey just how wonderfully this little girl was camoflaged.
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

What a superb pic! I love these little creatures, so glad you've got them there. I'll be really interested in the wasps too....

although I love the cricket, I have to say, I really love the rose hips. They are so big and healthy. Marvelous shot.
