Description
Piptoporus betulinus, commonly known as the birch polypore, birch bracket, or razor strop, is one of the most common polyporousbracket fungi and, as the name suggests, grows almost exclusively on birch trees
It is said to have medicinal properties. Activity against the vaccinia virus[ and certain bacteria.
Ötzi the Iceman, a mummified human from 3300 BC, was found carrying Piptoporus betulinus wrapped in a leather string, considering Ötzi was found to be infected with the internal parasite whipworm
