Description

Ultra Fractal 5.04, three layers used but two of them simply for colour adjustments. My previous upload “Slipping And Sliding,” expanded on the value of judgment in art and both greyone and Jennyfnf very kindly expanded on the subject. Thank you people! “Misdeem,” as the title of this latest picture needs a little explanation for it too focuses on the vagaries of judgment. Look at the works of any great artist and are they all seen as of equal value? Obviously not. Some pictures seem better than the majority, and the odd one might be deemed exceptional. Quality is also subject to the judgment of others be they the qualified critic or from one amongst the generality of art-lovers. There is no absolute right or wrong, and the passage of time warps understanding even further. So my title comes from the attraction of a word discovered in the OED (Oxford English Dictionary) that great fount of umpteen volumes which goes into and beyond the meaning of words. I particularly liked an authority for the word sourced from CHAUCER: “He that mysconceyueth, he mysdemeth.” Maybe I should rename all of my pictures so? I do love the ancient spelling. Those folk had style, and each word a loving tussle with meaning. Cliff
