Description

Digital painting; created using PhotoLine and Photoshop. At first, this should be a simple background for a (2d) beach beauty but I painted more and more details in this one. Maybe I do post her later. Sometimes I think it makes not much sense to paint an image that looks like a photo, because a camera can do this job better and quicker. What do you think? After photography was invented, artists have begun to paint more abstract images: Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism and such kinds of images that you cannot create with a camera. But I don’t like abstract images and I am not a photographer, I own just a cheap and poor camera.

I can almost smell and feel the seafoam--this is awesome--the birdies are a nice touch--the lighting makes this particularly inviting--like you just have to go and hit the shore just in time for sunset...miraculous!

Photography was invented by painters, who wanted tools to make more realistic paintings. What is wrong in showing your skill, while painting realistic pictures? Too many do abstracts purely because they have no skill what soever, when it comes to drawing or painting. And as callas says, you can show the world what is not to be seen for others UNLESS you make them see it as if it was real. Think about how much effort film makers put in animations to make them look real, because the want to tell stories, which are not real? There is so much, you can not create wit a camera, but which you can draw or construct in 2d or 3d. Let those who believe art must be everything but realism think what they want. They can learn how to draw and make themselves known as true artisans, not just people who can throw together some colors and random shapes in a picture, and be lucky if it pleases the eye.
