Description

FE Gen Newton IV postwork in PI. We are having glorious weather...most unseasonal. The Goldfinches keep coming round in gangs of about 20 looking to see if I have started filling up their feeders with Nyjer seeds, those tiny black seeds that they love. To protect our environment from any invasive weed seeds that may enter the country with the imported nyjer oilseed, all shipments are heat sterilized to prevent germination of these weeds. Very rarely, a fertile Nyjer seed may sprout a yellow flowering plant under their feeder and this is indeed Guizotia abyssinicia. Simply remove the plant to prevent it from escaping and competing with our native plants.

Gorgeous presentation. The image generates a very strong feeling of Autumn, with the warm color of the disintegrating leaf against the cold sky.

Beautiful work Jenny! I love the Autumn feel it invokes. I have a finch feeder just outside the big window in our sunroom. It is basically cat TV. We have 2 cats and they both spend hours sitting watching these finches come and go all day. The birds are safe because our cats are strictly indoor cats and can't get at them.

Beautiful image, flare and movement Jenny. I am curious now after reading about nyjer seed. I feed the Goldfinches with this and loads of it germinates under the feeder. I thought it was our native Teazal that the seed came from. I buy from the RSPB so I thought it would be O.K. My feeder hangs over the lawn and the seedling get cut along with the grass. It can be spread though by the birds. I shall have to check it's origin with them.

Super work as always Jen. We don't have those here in Texas, those weeds that is. We have one from Brazil though, Giant salvinia, a water plant/weed whatever, it gets started and can kill a Lake in no time, it's like war on those suckers here. Peace

Wow! I see a poor old dragon, shaking himself vigorously after falling into wetness of lake, his fiery flame lost, and much shaken by such a dire fate. I hope he recovers soon. Merlin will likely need him again (you are watching the TV series?). Tame goldfinches, seeds with malice hidden: I'll stay with my sadly tamed dragon. He'd fumigate if he could. I'm sure he would. He's no dud.

Lovely work, Jen. Looks like summer fighting with autumn. Eek those pesky foreign seeds and plants. Never ending war here. Even the beautiful honeysuckle turns into a strangling triffid in my part of the world. And as for those Ozzie possums!!!

the fickleness of the weather this time of year you seem to bring us with this creation. One day bright sunlight and the other day cold enough to see your own breath.. Lovely FE fractal!
