Description

I have a photograph of a boy, something I found online a long time ago. The description said it was taken by a photographer during the Great Depression. The photographer was hired by the government to travel with census workers, to capture the images of people affected by the depression. Duplicating the expression on the boy's face has been difficult, it's a mixture of anger and fear, but I think I captured a sense of the emotion of that time. In a lot of ways, I see that same expression on faces around me now. Thanks for viewing, I appreciate the feedback! Provocative in its way...usually when working with Poser or any other digital modeling program, it's far too easy to capture the simmering, sultry fantasy element of humanity and a bit harder to work out the more complex, muddled emotions. You've captured the emotional muddle of the times (then and now) perfectly...there is anger, there is sadness, there is extreme uncertainty through which humanity really shines without glamor and glitz, and that is what's really effective about this piece of work. It's marvelous and touching, and it's got quite a lot to say. Needless to say, I like this a LOT!

Exquisite portrait! You did a superb job in capturing the expression. I do not know what photo you speak of but I have seen many photos from the era. I have the book "The Family of Man" in which many such facial expressions can be seen from the same period. Perhaps we are not so far removed from that period in time. You excel in many areas but I must say you are brilliant at this.
