Description

What the famed Horsehead Nebula may look like as viewed from a hypothetical nearby planetary system. This cosmic structure as seen by us earthbound humans is actually a dark lane of dust in front of a bright, larger and more distant nebula. The Nebula is a heavily reworked photo of the real thing image mapped onto the background shader, and all in a single render in Terragen 2. Only postwork to the final render is some contrast / color correction. A couple of the rock formations themselves may bear a slight resemblance to a horse's head. And it seems there is a short, stubby finger pointing up to the subject matter. All of that is purely coincidental. I had no intention of making it happen. Thanks for looking in!

Very very cool coincidence, Rich! Did you use your newest mojoliths file here? Can't wait for playing with that one too. I like the displacements and textures in this render, very interesting as always!

that is an idea that I also had. How will it be close to such nebula's we are in a boring part of the universe only one sun only one moon a few little planets around us and that is it.. but there are worlds were this can be seen ... and it must be .. heaven

Very nice work. The terrain could be a very big chessboard. Well done Rich.

Very good result which gets around some weakness in TG2's ability to create rich colour variations in the sky.

Funny how coincidence plays into scene creations, isn't it. Before reading the description, I did think that you had intentionally made the rock to resemble the nebula. :-) Beautiful work! I love the way you incorporate the real with the imagined.
