Description

Our squadron was HS-5. The helicopters were Sea Kings - model 3A. It was designed with a keel, like a boat, for water landings. My hoist - is the bomb shaped device, mounted above the cargo door. The cargo door has two arrows painted on it – just to the right of the number 64. Each helicopter had a Navy issued B&W camera - about the size of a toaster oven. If we used the camera, we had to turn them over to the photographers mate for developing the film. Because I really don’t know, if I actually took this shot, I will post it under the snapshot section. Photo taken mid 1960s and scanned today. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Now that's what I call good and healthy prop blur, or, to be more specific, rotor blur, in this fine shot, Dana. I like the angle of the helicopter as it appears to veer off. And good accompanying information on the bird, my friend.
