Description

Damn it all to hell!! I've had it with hair!!! Sorry, but I learned after only a few frames that long hair just isn't practical and it takes way, way too much work to make it look even half-way decent in most scenes. So, I've changed it (and re-rendered yesterday's frames) with a new, short hair. Surprise, surprise... it's the very hair I used for the Shelby Bly concept over a year ago. With all that I've learned about making hair textures and shaders, it looks really good now. I'm probably going to keep the cover as-is because it looks so good to me as-is. I'm currently rendering a larger version of this so I can create prints and posters (for myself mostly. My walls are so bare). To mrestey- Yeah, she was a bit more glamorous before but I'm currently on this "reality" kick when it comes to making characters. She looks more realistic to me now... and I like that. :)

Nice work on the new Shelby! Yeah, long hair can be a pain - it's fine for a single image or a short series, but like real long hair, it requires lots of attention. I think a shorter style like this one is a lot more practical for running around having adventures in reality. Looking forward to her continued adventures (and I'll bet Mike is, too LOL!)

The only way to work with long hair is to use dynamic hair or the very uncooperative Poser hair. I can totally understand your frustration though as I LOVE long hair and have to limit it's use in most of my images. Nice panel.

WOOOOOOOW! Beautiful image Lizzie! I love the reality and depth of field in this. Excellent lighting and skin textures! Great pose too. Actually, as with real women a simple change like the hair can make a huge difference in how they look. I like this hair on Shelby, she looks kinda cute with it. Super image!

I agree- the imperfections we carry are what give us character and individuality. I like the fact that while she is attractive, she's not a glamour puss. She looks feminine, but the 'tude tells me she can scrap too LOL!
