Description
The Mail 'newspaper' (I use the word - well, in jest actually - just my opinion! Oh isn't the freedom of speech wonderful ^-^) - ran an article recently, so I'm told, about a couple of container ships which have been laid up in Falmouth Harbour for a fair while.
Being a report of doom and gloom (that's not to say the world could do with a mighty lift just now, but do we have to look on the blackest side all the time!) - it ranted on, so I am led to believe, about the state of the world - as it has a penchant to do.
Here's the good side folks!! And believe me, there is always a good side!
Alongside these two magnificent, well care for and utterly beautiful ladies of the sea, stands the Windsor Castle and all three are well worth sailing out to see! Money may well be short, hence the lay up of such a great while, but these girls of the sea are sparkling and totally well cared for, despite that. And, while I'm on a roll (Yep - this is my interpretation of a roll!) - many actually do visit these ships and bring much needed revenue into the locality! See? Good side! ^=^
Having said all that, I hope soon to see these ladies sail off again to do what they were meant to. There is no doubt they deserve more than sitting in harbour, but this too shall pass!
Just in case anyone is interested the Santa Giuliana and Santa Giulietta are 21,000-ton container ships. I've no idea where they are registered.
The Windsor Castle was built in Glasgow in 1964, and up until 2000 was named the Fingal. She's a Steel Twin Screw Motor ship (means nowt to me!) and she's now owned by Tamahine Investments, of Hong Kong, and it was they who renamed her in 2000. I think she is used for vehicle transport, though don't quote me on that. Whatever her name, she's a beauty! Mind, I have a 'thing' for ships. You should be around me on Plymouth Navy Days! Not one ship (or sub) escapes my footsteps! ^=^
Remind me to tell you about the time when, almost nine month's with child, I descended the stairs of our then, largest nuclear sub.....Oh boy!!!!
Off to woods now. Saw a fungi the other day, really strange one. Picture time! ^=^
Thank you for the comments, faves and for taking the time to look. ^=^

Hehe! I am SO with you on the Mail and it's ilk! I am the same about boats of all sorts, but can't raise the same interest in planes or cars. Would I have seen these when I was there in May 2007? If so I will surely have some pics!

Lovely shots Carpathia. I don't buy newspapers cos in my opinion they put individuals up on pedestals then do all they can to dig dirt and knock them down again!! My moan over.
