Description

This was my entry for the 3D character rendering contest from E-On software. I got into the 12 finalists out of 109 entries. And although I didn't make it into the top3, I feel proud to have made it that far into the competition. Because the description of the contest said that we had to show a character in their own enviroment without using a wide vista or indoor setting I kept the scene pretty simple. The character needed to be the focal point. I spent a lot of hours working on this final render. From the start I immediatly had the idea in mind for some sort of stone aged woman with a spear in her hand. I even had this same pose in mind. So I started of in Daz Studio. Once that was done I imported her in Vue 6 where I set up the small patch of land that you see here, with the tree and rocks and ecosystem on it. During my work on this scene I tried a lot of things in the background, from flocks of birds to landmasses, forests and so on. I felt like everything I added took away attention from the character. So in the end I left it all out. The atmosphere is my own spectral atmosphere. There is also water down there but you don't really see it because it blends in with the sky. The lighting is done with one sun light and two point lights. Again, a lot of tweaking on the lights, atmosphere and character textures to get this final result.
