Description

Fox-Amphoux est un village perché à 540m d'altitude d'où l'on jouit d'un magnifique panorama sur les superbes forêts de pins et de chênes qui l'entourent. L'activité y est principalement agricole. La cité a conservé les vestiges de ses anciens remparts et du château des Blacas (1ère mention en 1200). Au hasard des ruelles pittoresques on peut aussi y admirer les maisons du XVI et XVIIèmes et la charmante petite chapelle à l'entrée du village. La richesse du patrimoine historique et préhistorique de Fox-Amphoux attire de nombreux visiteurs. C'est aussi le village natal de Barras, une des figures de la révolution française. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Fox Amphoux is perched at 540M altitude overloaking superb forests of pines and oaks. Agriculture is the main livelihood. The village has preserved the ruins of the ramparts and the Chateau des Blacas (first mentioned in 1200 AD). Strolling about the picturesque streets one can admire the 16th and 17th century houses and the charming little chapel at the entrance to the village. The historical and prehistorical vestiges in Fox attract many visitors.
