Description

Yes, boys, Didi's boobs are a veritable roadmap of stretch marks. Hope that doesn't bother you... Here's a tip of the hat to the "Cathy" comic strip, which recently ended its run, although I hadn't seen it in years. I often get comments that my posts are "cute" and I worry I'm becoming the Male Cathy. At least I'm not the male "Rose Is Rose" yet. Not until the characters start having candy canes, rainbows, and smiling suns in their word balloons. Actually, it shouldn't come as a surprise that my biggest comic influence is ARCHIE. Well, maybe if Betty were the lead character and Archie didn't exist. But it's all in there somewhere. Much more recently in life I discovered manga, and I'll be honest. I don't care about wars between giant robots. But manga has something you don't see in America: romantic comedies targeted at males. It's kind of like American romantic comedies targeted at females, except with more skirt-flipping. I try to incorporate a little of that, too. That's a little about my influences. Thanks for looking.

Is it terrible that I freaked out the same way when I found a stretch mark on my boob? T___T

During the 70's (when I was in High School) I was quite obsessive about Spiderman comics. In the sunday papers I followed Cathy and Sally Forth, and of course Peanuts. Your panels have the feel of Cathy in the reading the text, no question. I won't say it is cute though, just on general principles. You should post a picture of Clint Eastwood on your profile, so folks won't think that you're becoming the Male Cathy. (We used to hang a picture of Clint over the record player when we played Culture Club during the 80's)

I don't know who I pity more, Didi or daddy. The only comic that I ever read when I was a kid was something called Kamandi.

WOW! I had hundreds if not more than, of Archie comic books, Betty & Veronica! I drew pencil scenes from it, it was my favorite thing to do as a young girl and I always dreamed of bringing them back! Anyway, as I said before, you should be in the daily newspaper. Great job as usually and definitely funny!

I was never into Archie, but I'm with you on the Manga. They have a very unique way of telling stories. I think that's why I like webcomics b/c so many of them are about everyday life
