I'm not sure what all to say about myself, I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan (USA) and work as a graphic designer/computer technician for a print shop. I have a BS in Historic Preservation, but wasn't willing to go on for a Master's Degree, nor was I interested in teaching, so I found another career. I discovered Bryce way back when version 1 came out, but I didn't really get serious about the program, or 3D art in general, until a few years ago. When I'm not in front of the computer, I'm either making costumes or wearing them to a renaissance festival, or building a new rock-sculpture, or possibly wandering with a camera.
When I'm not making something, odds are I'm reading from my far too wide range of interests: Astronomy, Cosmology, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, History, Current Events, NASA (of course) and anything else that happens to catch my attention. It's really hard to find enough time to do all of the things I want to be doing! What drew me to Renderosity is the many excellent artists who continue to inspire me to push myself as an artist. More recently I've added a selection of stuff to another online gallery location:http://nefariousdro.deviantart.com/ÂÂ

Before I read the text I was thinking "that's a bit different for you." Shape-wise anyway. I like it! If I had suggestions or critiques or questions, I'm not shy about that, but I can't think of any. Cool looking model.

Definitely a different ship design for you...I like the textures you've used, and the presentation is very well done, with your usual great spacescape background...nothing I can crit in this image!

A great ship design and cool render. I had to think more than only twice to find some of that constructive criticism you are looking for... Lighting... check, don't know what to make better Textures... check, same here Background... don't know if a starfield generated with "Universe Imagecreator" really looks better, yours is already very cool Modelling... the only thing I could image was giving the model slightly more subdetails. Hope this helps :)

Awesome work Dr, simply awesome.

Great work here! Concerning criticism, I really needed to think hard to find some: Maybe a few color variations in the starfield would increase realism. And as previously said, a little more details in textures and models could be good. Have a nice day!

There's really nothing I can critisize here. Wonderful ship model and the composition and postwork are excellent. :)

By the size of the cockpit window it looks like the ship could possibly hold a crew of between 4 to 6 astronauts at most. The modeling is excellent as your designs keep getting more detailed with every new post. I like the over all texture on the ship but you may want to try different textures on some of the smaller parts. Finding good textures for the hull of a spaceship can be quite difficult and I think that you have done a good job. Keep them coming!!! Cheers, David

Excellent!!!

Mike, your spacescapes are always excellent! The ship design is quite unique and creative, and the light is great! I'm going to have to get the full version of Bryce (after I get my new computer) - right now, I have the free version 5.5, but I really haven't done much with it. Looks like you have it pretty well mastered, my friend. I might have to pick your brain once or twice! LOL! Excellent work!

I really like the somewhat retro style feel of the spacecraft while maintaining the plating and slightly more complicated architecture. I will try to give some constructive critique without meaning to offend (Don't get me wrong, it is a nice image): The hull has a sort of dingy coloration overall, but looks too even, perhaps some rust spots and added grime would make it stand out a bit more - adding a little displacement to that texture couldn't hurt (and I mean very little - just enough to make the plates seem more real). I would definately suggest some markings, in the least a name for the vessel. I realize it's not easy to achieve, but a slight glimpse of cockpit detail would do/always does wonders on any craft. Personally, with planets, I always like to have some portion of the terminus in the image if possible to help make the planet seem less flat - it's mostly a matter of personal taste and style.

Super model and texture on the planet! Well done :)

Your space scenes are always nicely organic, especially in terms of spaceship shapes and in the general manner of lighting. The lighting is also nicely realistic, nicely stark, and always, always, always, your starfields and planets are wholly believable. I especially like the color-scheme: it has that naturalistic appearance (and not post-work enhanced, like so much of Hubble's stuff is!) As for the ships themselves, I'd love to see these puppies and who knows, maybe even write something that takes place on board one of them...hmmm...now there's an idea. This is a great piece of work.
