Description

The late but nevertheless immortal Sir Arthur C. Clarke once said, “When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is probably wrong”. Although it is the purest whimsy on my part, I would like to think that out amongst the infinity of stars is an ancient sentience that keeps vigil over fledgling life forms however remote or obscure they may be. I think that is possible. After all, we build sanctuaries for endangered species and we are barely over 5,000 years removed from stone tools. The estimated age of the universe we live in is 13.7 billion years. That time span could easily accommodate minds that are a billion years old. As I say, it is just whimsy on my part. But at Renderosity, whimsy is the raison d'être. Created in Ultra Fractal

Splendid work. It goes against Logic to think we are alone in this vast universe and completely vain to think we are the most advanced sentient beings occupying it also. More likely the case in our instance though is they are watching to make sure Humanity doesn't spread to the stars until true sentience is achieved. We are a destructive and selfish Race, what wisdom allows a Virus to spread into uninfected areas when quarantine is possible. Peace

Gorgeous work Stan!! As beautiful as this fractal is, the text that accompanies it is what impresses me the most. The deep thought that it evokes is powerful.

Ahh, Dear old Occam. Stan I really hope you haven't succeeded in portraying that putative intelligence as a real entity. Why? Well, umm, it looks to me to be in imminent peril of sinking??!! I hope the entity's imanence is real, and that this is just a camoflage. Regardless, this is a seriously good image.

I think you could be right too as it is a huge universe and we are only just starting to explore it. Wouldn't it be amazing to find someone who was a billion years old, imagine how much knowledge they would have. A beautiful cosmic fractal with lovely details.

I agree that it is unlikely that we are the ultimate in intelligence. But could we be the ultimate in design in that we have no reached a level were we can improve on the design.
