Description

The large expanse of water here is Trinity Bay. It is an arm of Galveston Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico. It is southeast of Houston, Texas. The half circle of water to the right is Dutton Lake. It is a very marshy area as you can see, with a lot of lakes and bayous. The view in the distance is looking toward Texas City and Galveston. I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the wonderful artists and the friends I have made in my year plus of posting images at rr. I started posting largely because I wanted to comment on the beautiful work here, and didn't feel comfortable doing so without a gallery. As I grew more comfortable, my comments got longer, and longer, and longer. I really enjoy studying the wonderful work I see here and going on and on and on and on about it. Unfortunately as the list galleries I visit has become longer my visits to each have become further and further spaced. If I had eight days a week, I would be petitioning for another eight. I can't give up going on and on, but I hate being such an infrequent guest so I'll be sending out big 'uns and little 'uns. Big comments on evenings after work, and days off, and little ones in the mornings before work. (No bets on how well I can control my plodding but loquacious fingers) Thanks to everyone for your inspiration and wonderful comments!

This really is a great photo Lucinda, but I have to let you know that you did such a good job with it that you almost made me dizzy from the pov. ;) Seriously you are so good at these and thanks for taking the time to always give such a detailed explanation of your photos. The reason you started posting here may have been so you could comment on the work of others, but I for one am just glad you did so we could enjoy and comment on your work. Hugs

A wonderful capture from your plane seat which is always hard to get I find. The plane is often not going in the direction I want it too to get the best shot. I love seeing all your wonderful captures and I know how you feel about needing all the extra days in the week. I'm retired and the day still isn't long enough for all I want to do.

Hey, stranger, interesting capture from your window seat of the trailing edge of the starboard wing and all that oil floating around down there in the Bay.

another of your splendid air shots, this one almost like a vast digital painting. You have such an eye for these. The movement from the blue down to the marshy kind-of delta-y area (these are NOT technical terms!) is wonderful; and you captured the many types of silt and underwater ground formations as they make their way to the land. And the dreaded of all phenomena in plane shots---the freakin' window sill---is turned into part of the composition by your wonderful crop or pov, and by the overall palette of the piece. Even the reflection of the sill in the window fits right into the 'abstract' of the whole, as do the wing & its protruding 'parts'. (I know there are names for those pointed things coming out of the wing, but I don't know what they are. If they were the jets, wouldn't they have flat openings? You're listening to a novice here, lol...) A terrific abstract, made of wholly real images, well caught, well designed, and well chosen & cropped. And the land area is an opulent swirly thing which makes this look almost like a biological study of cells & their outreach. Wonderful piece all around! I'll be back for more, and oh do I understand your comments on making comments: I've been absent quite a bit, and when I come back, it's so hard to pick 'some' images, esp in galleries I really care about. You don't have to explain: Your last comment in my gallery---on a montage of street scenes---was an absolute gem. These take time, so you take your time: You make people feel not only 'seen' but appreciated deeply; so if you leave comments on less than every image, or you take your time doing it, you're still leaving country-fuls for everyone, which is more than most of us ever get. Do it however, whenever, comments like yours are letters; they can't be done quickly, unless you petition for those extra weeks, years, etc. I'll be back again soon...wonderful stuff, as always.
