Description

Happy Birthday Marylin! A little birdy told me of a birthday and so in honor of birthdays, beaches and beachzz, I've decided to actually get up off my skinny butt and finally post a picture that I've been wanting to post for a while. This is a beach in Chicago, complete with a pier; okay, it's not that much of a pier. It's more of a tongue of concrete extending eastward into Lake Michigan, but I suppose if you're an ant it's quite impressive in size. As a human, it's still impressive in size, but not like it would be for an ant, or not as impressive as something you'd see in California. But it's a pier, and it's a nice beach. Woodlice live in the park not to far away, and so it's perfect. Corey and I once lived in walking distance from this spot, and so it has quite a few pleasant memories attached to it...some of those memories involve model cars, Star Wars action figures, and people drumming into the night on particular holidays. Whenever I see this picture, I think of Marilyn and her love of beaches...well, she loves rivers and muscle cars too. I couldn't find (or make) a picture of a GTO on a pier, but I at least got something close to a pier. And so, Happy Birthday Marilyn...hopefully this is one of those birthdays that keeps giving you gifts all year long.

Beautiful image and wonderful dedication! I love the colors. Inky black waters, brown shore, and golden sky. It could be another world. Most excellent!

Such a peaceful and sad picture at the same time. I don't know how to put that into words... Feels like a departure... Feels like the memory of something that has always been but became impossible to reach... Paradise lost. Love that capture... it moves me for all the reasons above.
