Description
The Mosquito was an extremely fast aircraft, and made mostly of plywood (Ecuadorian balsa and Canadian birch). It was one of the most versatile aircraft of WW2 and fulfilled a staggering number of roles, perhaps best known for the low-level raids on Nazi-occupied Europe. Here a flight approaches the coast, escorted by Mustang Mk.IIIs.

I hope they spoke to the Met office before they set off... that ocean looks cold. Its an interesting Mosquito model- with that glazed nose, is it a photo-recce version or a dedicated bomber?

From what I've read, inclement weather was typical of these raids. Yes, this is a dedicated bomber version, although I doubt the photo recon version would have differed much cosmetically. The fighter and ground attack versions had a solid nose with 4 MGs, and four cannon in the bottom of the fuselage firing through recesses. John
