Description
After sinking the USS Cumberland, the CSS Virginia engages the USS Congress which has run aground. After an hours battle in which the Congress suffered huge casualties, the ship surrenders. While the Virginia was trying to take off the ships crew several members of both crews were hit by gunfire from the shore, including the Commanding Officer of the Virginia, Franklin Buchanan. After returning to the ironclad Buchanan ordered the Virginia to fire hot shot into the Congress setting her ablaze. The fire burned into the night setting off the powder magazines and blowing the Congress apart at about 2 am. With the light of day fading the ironclad returns to the southern side of Hampton Roads and will meet the Monitor the next day.

Fine. Someday I would like to try my hand on the ironclads of the Paraguay war ... (1865/70) and that's the sort of result I'd like ...

Superb. Terrific amount of work here, but well worth it to get the result you've achieved. Makes me want to give up when I see images of this standard Lol!
