I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Stunning capture Carin. You must try the walking routes at Groen Kloof nature reserve at the fountains here in Pretoria. You will see the giraffes while walking on one of the walking routes.

Cool capture of the magnificent giraffes as they hike along the game reserve, Carin. The one in front appears to be staring back at you.

What a wonderful capture! Of course here it's unusual to see even one, let alone a whole passel of 'em. They're such charmers! :) Mis jou, Dierbaar!

I have to share I was out on a drive yesterday to see the autumn colors and had been driving all day, and was heading back towards the highway or interstate, and I caught a glimpse of two pretty tall giraffes?!?!? and I thought what the heck was that, well I turned out to be two figurine type of giraffes in someones yard I didn's stop to take a picture wish I would have now, but it was getting late and I wanted to be to a certain spot by sunset to get a valley shot of the colors.... it sure gave me a smile though to see them standing out there. Love your photo! They are beautiful... someday perhaps I will see them as this, and not at a zoo or lol along the side of a highway as yard decor.

You've been noticed. Sure good to see this family in a natural setting of a preserve rather than a zoo. Wonderful shot Carin:)

Ya know, Carin...I can tell you live in a different world from me. You stated that it's unusual to see so many of these critters together. In the world I live in, it's unusual to see ANY of them at all! But then, that's what I love about other parts of the world...giraffes, hedgehogs, and all sorts of other non-Chicago creatures just wander around, pooping behind bookshelves, eating whatever those long-necked people eat, or doing other things Chicago critters just don't do. And to top it off, you show us a marvelous, and yes--for some--otherworldly photograph. I especially like giraffes, especially that they have such long necks and long eyelashes. They're gorgeous and graceful creatures and this is a gorgeous and graceful photograph of them. And the more I look at your stuff, the more and more appealing the southern tip of Africa looks. It's always been appealing, since if you tip Africa on its side, it looks like a dog sniffing Antarctica. What's not to like about that!? This is a fantastic photo.
