Description
There are, it seems, two muses: the Muse of Inspiration, who gives us inarticulate visions and desires, and the Muse of Realization, who returns again and again to say, "It is yet more difficult than you thought."  This is the muse of form. ... It may be, then, that form serves us best when it works as an obstruction to baffle us and deflect our intended course.  It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work and that when we no longer know which way to go we have begun our real journey.  The mind that is not baffled is not employed.  The impeded stream is the one that sings. —Wendell Berry (Poet)In response to the words accompanying my previous post on 'What is Art?', a friend offered: "I'll be the first to admit that most of what's in my gallery is not art, but it was fun to produce."  To this I offered: "... a great portion of what we produce falls under the classification of therapy." I expressed this with humor but I do feel there is truth to this assessment.  We all gain something from these works we create or else we'd not continue producing them.  The range of experience among us is a vast as the sense of importance we place on each work. The frustration we feel when we are unable to create is often expressed in these galleries.  Having experienced such feelings ourselves we easily grow sympathetic when friends go through such times.  We can seldom provide what is necessary for another to get back in the creative mix again ... but we can show that we know what they are passing through. This work was created with these thoughts in mind.  Gisela has needed to set creative time aside for a while now because of time demands on her days.  Since she is unable to create new works at present I thought I would create something she would enjoy and maybe gain a little inspiration from. The model is Gabriela by 3Dream.  I neglected to mention Jose on Sunday when referring to artists whose characters inspire me.  3Dream characters and hair were some of the first models which attracted my attention several years back when I first looked into Poser.  The wondrous hair featured above is also Jose's creation; the versatile Egypt Hair.  Gabriela, by the way, is a Stephanie I character.  If you still enjoy working with the elder models you will surely be enchanted by Gabriela's charms.  The Stephanie I figure is still available for free at Daz and Gabriela is available free of charge at Jose's site, Here. Elsewhere: A happy surprise came in the mail overnight in a message from Ryuslilangel that 'The Kiss of Morning's First Light', shown below, was selected as Poser Staff Pic of the Week. [ Peep ]        I hope you are also enjoying a kiss of inspiration this week! With warmest regards, Terry

Beautiful job on the hair.

First congratulations for the 'staff pick' my dear friend, then again congratulations on this wonderful piece you presented to us today. She is no less then delightful! To address the topic of your previous upload; I always have big reservations when referred to as 'artist' cuz I do not consider myself that, not even for one bit. Therapy, ~yes~ that is what I consider my thingies to be, no more, no less. In many images I just give me, more than most ever will realise.. ~gosh~ ... I typed more of a comment here then I did in the past two months I think.. You do have a strange effect on ppl Terry.. :)

LOL. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my runtimes without adding the older figures to it. This is a nice creation though.

Hey, that's fantastic about the staff pick! ;D KUDOS!!! ;D It is comforting (I think) to know that at least according to: Wendell Berry that my mind is employed...(Insert joke here...) ;D And all this time I thought it was just that my muse had gone on vacation without me... nope... my mind was employed... Bwahahahaa! I love this image...she's gorgeous, and I LOVE that hair! ;D Congratulations again! Until...

Congrats Terry with Staff pick you deserve. Awesome work. I like the wide dimension and overall color feel. Agree with Charley on this. I am not artist also. When I make things I have feelings from tears of joy to utter rage when I cant get it way I want. Yet when I look back on a work or even my gallery I see progress and most of all remeber the fun of doing it. This saved me about 1,5 years of therapy so is 18 sessions with shrink LOL

so deep and true words, calling it therapy is just about right, when i see what my wife went through with the losses of her kids i think withouth doing her "art" she would be insane already,in this case it was a big help/therapy. *now ute is artistically insane muahahahaha. i can say for myself that i really live in my scenes and as callad mentionned it gives me a lot, lot, lot. i am very happy to be here. about beeing an artist well shipping through the sometimes rough waves of life ,we all could consider ourselves of beeing artists because sometimes we have to take "artistic"decisions to keep the boat afloat. very well and thoughtful posting terry

If art takes the scream inside the artist and makes it into someting beautiful that strokes the face of the viewer, duh...carry on screaming!
