Description

As the witches hour approaches with lightning speed, I have my very own version of the generally well known 'Halloween' holiday traditions of the USA. Mainly adopted as 'Trick or Treat' -even here - Australians are embracing it with a vengeance, (some habits are good - some are not) *** It reminds me of the 'Walpurgisnacht' of German origins, now where did I leave my broomstick ? ... better watch out - the cauldron is boiling ... looking deep into the vessel of Cumquat jelly, it's bitter/sweet and really fascinating to watch the little funnels of bubbles reaching the top surface. This is my contribution to Halloween, by weaving my own a little spell of magic. Cheers *BB*

look like some type of fruit we have here in Loisisana. but we do not cook it. we just eat it wit the peeling on it and all for it small to put into your mouth. Guess some do make jams and jelly with them. I heard of it been done like that. this is super cool

"Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble." What!? This doesn't look like poisoned entrails, eye of newt, toe of frog, and such, into a cauldron. This looks absolutely yummy. Darn it! Now I'm hungry! Really hungry! Well done BB ... now I'm trudging off to the kitchen to forage.

The Cumquat's look pretty innocent on the kitchen bench, but once you started your brewing, they have taken on a much more sinister flavour ! Geno said no eye of newts, but I'm sure I can see a few in there...YIKES ! Hoppy Helloweenie & ~Cheers~

A great boil up for halloween and I hope that Jeff hasn't laced it with anything. A great capture and I don't think I have tasted a cumquat. Enjoy the jelly.

So that's what you do with kumquats! I often wonder what they're for!

So interesting seeing kumquats simmer in their own blood. Too bad I can not smell or taste it. Hey, hey, I've never seen them before. Thank you for this Australian cauldron - Halloween. For me you're not a witch, but a queen! <3.

Kumquats (perhaps the same as cumquats) have been my favorite citrus fruit since I was a kid growing up in Florida where they grow wild. I crave them but cannot find them sold anywhere so I am growing a Kumquat "tree" from seed. After 7 years it's about 2 feet tall and still no Kmmquats:) Very cool photo and bubbling brew!!! :)
