Description

Hi everybody I have been working on this Brycian Space ship for nearly a year now it is the most advanced I have ever made and it is by far my best. She is called Phoebe(after my Chicken who was named after Saturns Moon) This ship is the last I will be making on a Windows machine as I am sick and tired of it always crashing. I am going Mac full on and I will only use windows if someone at work has a problem. She is on a Voyage of discovery Where she is headed no one knows Hope you like all comments welcome Karl

Nice work! Booleans are evil, in my opinion. Clearly, they are good for some things, but for complex modeling like yours the polygons wasted by boolean techniques really start to add up. I think moving on to Mac is fine, but I think you will get the same crashes, because the problem might be the complexity of the model, the thousands of groups Bryce has to remember, and the polarities, so much. I wonder if reducing the polygons and grouping complexity by using Bryce 7 with boolean collapse would help. You would need to collapse groups into meshes, export then re-import the meshes, and the memory needed should half if not quarter compared to now. Impressive model! I am jealous. Great work in every way!

Very nice modeling Karl. As far as windows is concern I do not believe Mac is going to be the answer but if you feel this is what you have to do then by all means proceed. Have you tried Bryce 7 Pro and grouping the different sections and then converting these group to meshes? I believe that rashadcarter is correct in what he said in his post. Just remember that unfortunately Bryce 7 is still quite problematic and you may experience some of the same issue that you are having with your current version, "crashes". Best of luck my friend as you are really improving in your modeling skills. David

Thanks Bambam131 I appriciate the support you and many other artists have given me since I started working in Bryce 3 years ago. I did think hard about whether to stick with windows or go to mac and I thought that windows itself has crashed an enormous amount of times during this year alone. I reckon I will get Bryce 7 pro if it comes out on amazon.co.uk they had 6.1 on there but I was a fool and kept biding my time and regretted it. I think I will try to do you and rashadcarter recommended as it would save me loads of time. Thanks again Karl PS I will upload a better picture of Phoebe soon
