Description
With some assistance from a friend of mine, who was kind enough to share lighting techniques with me, I created this render. It's the first one I ever made and a prelude of images to come!
I used the Victoria 4.2 figure and the Lewanna hair from DAZ3D.com. No postwork has been done to this image.

Shadows of her hair and nose seem to be a little off and some background would have made her not so plain.

not bad for a first render. Most of mine got deleted :) Something does look a bit strange with the shadows (unless its my eyesight) but at least you -are- using shadows!

You are off to a good start! Most of us are too embarrassed by our first attempts to post them here. I know mine were awful. The lighting on this image is quite good, actually. You have used the shadows, and softened them nicely. The one suggestion I would make to improve this image is to tone down the ambient occlusion that is causing those odd dark patches, especially around the nose. Bravo! Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing your future efforts.

Not bad. I rendered for years before ever posting here. And I'm still an amateur at best with what I'm able to do. Rendering is still a hobby as I work in a 24/7 support capacity so my hours are constantly screwed up. I think that you never get over the feeling that your own renders are somehow insipid compared to what others are posting, but you're wrong (that means I'm wrong) they aren't. Keep up with it. Your character has a somewhat intense stare, it makes the overall image very interesting.

very nice for a first render, most of the lighting successes are trial and error renders over several hours, so well done this is a very nice image in my view
