Description
This is a traditional drawing made with very thin felt pens. 0.2 and 0.5. I made it using a print of Mark´s (anahata.c) beautiful Photo as model. This link will show similar streets. I find Chicago very beautiful and Mark is giving it credit with his wonderful Photos.
I gave it a little sepia and a frame in psp9.

Wonderful Helle!! It is wonderfully done and yes..i followed the link, but i remembered of that place anyway...and if the photo of Mark already showed a beautiful place , you add to it the mistery and the peace,yet, bringing some kind of magic to it, with your drawing process. Well once again I've been brought out of 'retirement', lol, and for such a beautiful image. You honor me & my neighborhood with this gorgeous drawing. Urban drawing---drawing urban environments w/ tight packed streets & lots of different facades & gardens & sidewalks---is an art, and not many do it well. This is not just beautiful, but very true to the neighborhood, and wholly natural---a trait you capture so much, in your drawing & painting. For me, you captured the wonderful balance between strong shade---your delicate cross hatch & lines for contour, mass and shape---and light---the open surfaces, which you've simply let 'be'. When I draw pieces like this, I constantly struggle with separation, ie, how to make the trees separate of the buildings behind them, not allowing everything to become a big muddle. You've achieved that separation with complete ease: Everything has a voice of its own yet everything belongs together. That's fine urban drawing. It's beautiful, and thank you so much for using my photos & for mentioning me. I'm thrilled that one of my photos could help inspire this little jewel. As the comments & favs say: A beautiful piece all around! You did my neighborhood proud!

This is beautiful Helle! You are so good at knowing when to draw in firm detailed strokes and when to use a more delicate touch. The free flowing lines of the puddles, and of the buildings and trees in the distance, give a great motion and vibrancy to the work. Beautiful lines and detail. I love the curving lines of the trees against the straight lines of the architecture. Beautiful work! And in ink! Ink and watercolor scare me, and you do them both so well!

Hi Helle...and this is bringing me 'out of retirement' too...:-))) Well, as you know I haven't really retired from RR...just been super busy for the last three weeks. This ink drawing is beautiful...I always learn so much as I read others' comments on superb works such as this...particularly Mark's. More-more:)
