It seemed even Jon Stewart wasn't quite sure what the nature of his beast, the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, was. What exactly was this?he asked the crowd. In an earnest speech pleading for unity and civility and even tipping his hat to Juan Williams and Rick Sanchez, Stewart explained that the rally was about bringing Americans together for the better of the country and at the expense of shouty pundits on both sides.

I watched some of this on UK TV with increasing puzzlement, and apart from a certain degree of entertainment factor, I did wonder why so many folk had nothing better to do! But fascinating all the same.

This is great. I have stood like this in many rallies at the Capitol and the energy and mix of different emotions in the air is ripe. You got that same feeling in this shot.

Nice shot of city hall. I appreciate the sentiments of the rally but agree there is no comparison between the vitriol and outright dishonesty on the right and the commentary on the left.
