Description

This old rest stop is located along historic Route 66 between Kingman and Oatman, Mohave County, Arizona. Route 66 was used by migrants leaving the Dust Bowl states of the Midwest (Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Eastern Colorado) and moving to California. These migrants were generally referred to as 'Okies'. John Steinbeck's book the 'Grapes of Wrath' and the movie of the same name chronicle the migration and hardships of these migrants along this historic route. This picture was taken on 30 October 2010. Thank you for viewing and commenting, Sig...

A fine shot of history that is still alive in the memories of many! It sure looks like Arizona, too.

I love the depth this has. The far peak anchors the whole, and the bush in the foreground gives entrance. We just drove back home from Kansas (left Wednesday the 27th and got here yesterday afternoon) so I'm all about rest stops right now! Without places like this to stop, the journey would be impossible. Excellent capture, my friend! I'm glad you were out and about with your camera. :)
