Description
I had a dream last night
And you were in it
We were dancing on a cloud
The sunshine wasn’t behind us
It was in us
Everyone who looked up at us
Felt content
From the warmth of our love
Our souls were old
Full of the years
That made us who we are
But we were wearing our tight skins
Smooth from our youth
You were afraid to say I love you
And I couldn’t wait to scream it
You wouldn’t let me carry your books home
But boy did I ever want too
I knew when you looked at me
With those green eyes
That you were in love with me
It made me dream dreams
But then the rooster crowed
And reality tapped me on the shoulder
Saying its time to wake up
But I don’t care what reality says
Because tonight I know
You will be in my dreams again

Beautiful words! I love the idea of your soul and that of your dream partner being old. Perhaps you are dreaming a memory of another place and time. It's fun to think of souls meeting each other in different lifetimes and holding onto the memories in dreams. Wonderful poem!
