Description

CONTEST ENTRY for this Years URBAN LEGENDS CONTEST I was inspired to do this art project because of Michael Jackson's Thriller. At the begining of the video, you see MJ sitting in a theatre eating popcorn with his mouth open and a big teethy smile. It just strikes me funny. other things that inspird this is the title URBAN LEGENDS - I like to nail a subject as close as possible and with there being an "S" at the end of Legend, I had to have more than one Halloween Spirit. Now if you look hard, I got the most famous of the monsters - legends in there, however, they don't look like the way they're known for. As I made this, I changed who played the part, some of these you'll get because there's a tie in with the name, or attitude or they just look like they could play that part. How long did this take? Weeks of constant work. the biggest CG drawing I've ever done, I had no idea what I was in for. This last week I've had insomnia and stayed awake working on it - lol As I type this, it is 9:42AM... I started on this as soon as I read what the Theme was. This is my 5th year in this Annual Halloween Contest and I love it. I look forward to this contest every year. I used photo explosion - cheap program but I know it better than the other program I used - photo shop 7 all art was drawn, redrawn, shrunk, pasted in place, more postwork - I learned alot on this project, it made me a better CG artist, I understand what I can and can not do a whole lot better now. This was my first 2D entry in the contest since I've been here, I liked the prizes better - lol - and I know how to draw, just not how to make these images in 3D yet - hopefully in the next five years I'll be putting something in the contest worthy of getting votes - lol LOOK AT THE CHARACTERS and see if you can think of the original monster and now, who did I choose in real life that is famous to play the part.... Jaws is Jaws, so don't get hung up on that. The grim Reaper is the greim Reaper... Start with Freddy, top left corner, who is the actor under all those scars? LOL.... Now some characters are just current events - not really Monsters, but I gave them a different Identity. Please have fun with it, get inspired by it, print it and torch it - lol I'll post the answers in future upload WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AND WHY??? thanks for viewing, comments and faves.

A really fantastic composition, Mike! It really shows the amount of time you put into it. And I really LOVE all the famous monsters/legends. Oh....a favorite...a favorite....hummm....gotta be between three of 'em for me dear ole' Grim, Jaws (natch!) and, of course, MASTER Price. Really great work, Mike!

Mike this is awesome work! There's lots to see in this picture, from your pregnant 'mummy', to the vampire that looks like Mr. Spock. You really put a lot of effort into this and it shows. Great job!

This is BEYOND cool Mike and I'm blown away trying to imagine the time and effort you put into this one. How it didn't win is a mystery to me because clearly this is one of the most original and creative ideas for a Halloween pic ever. One could literally spend hours trying to figure out who is who and I intend on doing just that when I'm back home.

lol....this is GREAT!!! I LOVE THIS!! From the "I dream of Genie green" to "Freddie, lookin like George"! The pregnant mummy blew me away! lol I can see the hard work, and time you put into this Mike! You should have at least placed....!!! I have stared at this at least 20 minutes or so......gonna save this one for sure!

Dang, Mike! I can see you've put a LOT into this! What an incredible piece of artwork - especially considreing you did all the drawing. Just amazing! I'm inspired to get out the old wood-cased number 2 again - if I ever get the time.... there;s so much to look at here - I'm going to have to come back when I'm fully awake....LOL! Love the Michael Jackson pumpkin in the front... Let's see.... I see Freddy Krueger, the vimpire guy that looks like Mr. Spock, Jaws, the devil, Frankenstien, Wolfman, Vincent Price's ghost.... Man there's a lot of diverse folks here! Quite a work, Mike! Too bad it didn't place, but it's a fave for me!
